This film features the extraordinary story of Leitrim fiddle player Bryan Rooney, the man they call 'The Godfather'. In 1967, aged 16, he emigrated to London. He came as an unknown young musician yet with a depth of astonishing music. Today he has achieved global recognition within the traditional Irish music world and is recognised as one of the master fiddlers of his generation.
In this special one hour documentary actor and fellow fiddle player, Brendan Gleeson, goes on a journey to find out more about the man, the music and that golden era in London. A must see for music enthusiasts and anyone with an interest in the Irish story outside of Ireland.
The film will be shown on TG4 on Monday 29 December at 8.30pm. It will also be available worldwide live online at www.tg4.tv.
