Despite hanging up their boots as a band in 2010 after a career lasting 46 years, a new McCalmans CD has been released containing 19 songs never included on any McCalmans album. It features a previously undiscovered song from Nick Keir with the full band, recordings of the original line-up and tracks from every decade from every subsequent line-up of this seminal Scottish group.
The search through hundreds of tapes, minidiscs, LPs, CDs, videos and PC files for ‘lost’ tracks was made by Ian McCalman, who also edited and mastered the album at his Kevock Digital Studio in Lasswade. “Dehissers, denoisers, noise gates, decracklers, de-dogbarkers, smoke and mirrors were all used in the making of this album,” says Ian, who has dedicated it to “our two sorely missed friends, Derek and Nick,” previous band members sadly no longer with us.
This album will be a rare treat for the legions of McCalmans fans who were saddened by the demise of the group and feared there would never be another Macs album.
