The Dillen Doll

Jez Lowe has written a novel. Entitled The Dillen Doll, it is set at the turn of the 19th century and brings together characters from various folk songs of the period. It is based around the story of Dolly Coxon (who is mentioned briefly in the well-known Newcastle Upon Tyne song, Do Li A) as imagined by Jez.

That song is one of several which has been fashioned into a suite of songs by Jez, reflecting the story and evoking the musical background of the tale. This suite of songs, also called The Dillen Doll, has been released on CD by Tantobie Records. They can be purchased – separately or as part of a special ‘CD and book’ deal, from Jez’s website - jezlowe.com
