Willie Clancy Summer School - 7-15 July

The Willie Clancy Summer School is a major traditional Irish music, song and dance event held annually in Miltown Malbay, County Clare, Ireland. The 46th Summer School will take place between Saturday July 7th and Sunday July 15th 2018 with instrument and dance classes, lectures, workshops, recitals and céilithe all through the week.

This year, renowned traditional musician Joe Burke will open the 46th annual Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy on Saturday 7th July at 8pm at the Community Centre. The Donegal fiddler Tommy Peoples will be the subject of the annual Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy Tribute. Tommy Peoples is a major figure in Irish traditional music and was a driving force in the great revival of interest in the music in the latter half of the twentieth century. The Tribute presentation will take place on Tuesday 10th July at 3pm at the Community Centre and will be moderated by fellow musician and former Bothy Band member, Paddy Glackin.

As usual, there is a star-studded list of tutors for the week, and the daily recitals will be top notch as ever.
