EITHNE NÍ UALLACHÁIN, GERRY O’CONNOR & DESI WILKINSON - Cosa Gan Bhróga
Gael Linn CEFCD111

As part of their recent series of re-releases of Irish music and song previously unavailable on CD, Gael Linn have re-issued this debut album from Gerry, Desi and Eithne (who sadly died in 1999). Originally released in 1987, and preceding Gerry and Eithne’s Lá Lugh, Brighid’s Kiss and Senex Puer, Cosa Gan Bhróga is an album of tunes and songs mainly from the Co Louth tradition, although also encompassing Fermanagh, Donegal and other parts of Ulster.

With minimal other accompaniment Gerry’s fiddle and Desi’s flute expertly tackle the tunes with the flair that we have come to expect of these two musicians. And Eithne’s beautiful vocals are crystal clear as she interprets the songs here with great feeling and care.

A classic album that stands the test of time well.
