An L2F spokesman said ‘We have had some entries in already, and the quality as ever, is very high, but if you have some last minute brush-strokes to put to a piece, or are starting on a new piece for the competition, please don’t delay, and send it in as soon as you can’.

Entries for the 2021 songwriting competition are now open as well.  Tunesmiths and lyricists are reminded that they have until Monday August 2nd to enter this year’s L2F songwriting competition.  The competition is open to anyone with an unpublished, self-penned song that broadly fits into the global folk tradition.

Some slight changes have been made to this year’s competition format, but the essential ingredients remain the same. Finalist will be invited to perform their song at the festival's Folk Farm Festival Picnic on Sunday 5th September, and four of those will be invited to the L2F Festival weekend to perform their song at one of the concerts taking place between October 22nd and 24th.

The competition entry fee is £6.00 for a maximum of 2 songs. Songs should not be more than 5 minutes long. We are asking that entries are sent electronically (be it an MP3 file, a link to Youtube, Soundcloud or some other platform).  For further details, and an entry form visit https://lichfieldarts.org.uk/product/l2f-song-writing-competition/
