Jo and Lucy Goddard, the daughters of the late Sandra Goddard, folk singer from Lewes, Sussex, are planning a small “Come All Ye” this July to remember her.  There was a folk club event planned in Lewes in July 2020, but lockdowns happened.  So instead, there is something happening at Rottingdean Beacon Windmill.  Jo is holding a group Art Show “Up on The Hill” inside the windmill and the sisters are using the occasion to remember Sandra through some folk music and Morris dancing.

"We are inviting anyone who knew her to come and sing or play some music up at the Windmill.  It's on for just 2 weekends - the 16th & 17th and 23rd & 24th July.  The “Up on The Hill” art show (free entry) will be open 10am to 5pm. It is next to the Skylark Cafe in the Beacon Hub and on the coastal bus routes."

"On Sat 16th from about noon we have Chanctonbury Ring Morris Men, Knots of May and Ditchling Morris dancing. On Sat 23rd from noon we have Brighton Morris dancing. After the dancing there will be some singing! There is also a Norwegian Hardanger group playing on 17th (coming from London so might be tbc). There will be demonstrations of willow weaving on 17th  and Straw art / corn dolly making on 16th/23rd/24th . Plus some other surprise musical happenings!"

"It's not a festival - just a “Come All Ye” over those 2 weekends.  Hopefully the weather will be good, and we can sing and play outside in the shade of the Windmill (we will bring some camp chairs and cushions) or a smaller space inside the mill itself.  There will also be a music listening station, to hear folk recordings from her archive."

"We are excited to be doing it and look forward to the dances and songs she loved so much.  In Lockdown Jo set up www.wuntbedruv.com   to share her song sheets and recordings.
