Scotland's premier turbo Ceilidh band return to action with a long awaited excursion into the realms of the live album. Recorded during appearances at Aberdeen's prestigious 'Lemon Tree' venue and Glasgow's Fruitmarket, 'Not Enough Shouting' is a fair representation of what you can expect these days from a Wolfstone gig. Nine of the fourteen tracks have been pulled from their last studio album, 1999's 'Seven', the only real disappointment being the lack of previously unreleased material. I've been lucky enough to see the band recently and apart from a couple of new tunes, they've also added a scorching rendition of 'Wild Mountain Thyme' to their set which could easily become a signature tune akin to RunRig's 'Loch Lomond'.

It's fair to say that Wolfstone haven't had their share of good luck over the past few years, indeed 'Not Enough Shouting' is dedicated to the memory of Andrew Simmers the keyboard player who tragically took his own life last year. It must have taken some soul searching to continue with the band at that time. A testament to the bond within the group that they can still produce fine work given such adversity. For as long as I can remember Wolfstone have been acknowledged as one of the leading Scottish acts on the live circuit and the 14 tracks on this CD do their reputation no harm. There are one or two old favourites thrown in for good measure the cream being 'The Prophet' and 'Tinnie Run', I just can't quite understand, given their reputation, why it's taken them so long to release a live album.
