I first heard Rosemary Woods on Radio Ulster's folk programme singing one of her own songs "Everywhere I Go". I enjoyed that track tremendously and also subsequent tracks that were played that evening, so I was well pleased to review her album 'Walking Together'.

Rosemary sings in what I would call a country/folk style, although you can't miss the Irishness both in the decoration and warmth of her voice. She has a very easy going relaxed style that is instantly appealing and lends itself to the choice of material on this album.

The highlights for me being "Leave that Liar Alone" written by herself and Siobhan Skates. "I Still Miss Someone" written by J. Cash, "That's the Way the World Goes Round" by John Prine and "Very First Choice" a Woods/Bennett Song.

The musicians on the album include Kieran Goss, James Bienner-Hasselt, Colum Sands, Brendan Monaghan, Dicky Lennon and Seamus Boyle, not forgetting Rosemary herself. The accompaniment is very tasteful and never detracts from Rosemary's voice which always comes over clearly and out front, where a fine voice like hers should be. Backing vocals are by Mavis Breen, Tim and Alex Elder and Siobhan Skates, and a grand job they make of it, their voices blend so well with Rosemary's.

All in all an excellent first album from Rosemary and one that I thoroughly recommend. The more I listen to it the more I like it.
