In the early to mid 1990s, there were various concerts billed as Muckle Sangs Concerts. Sometimes these were stand alone events, other were part of festivals.

The format was typically four or five singers, on-stage together in a round robin format, with singers choosing their own songs - often reacting to what the previous singer had sung. In this recording you can hear a bit of the interaction with the audiences, and among the singers themselves.

This recording is incomplete, but gives a flavour of this particular performance. The singers on the occasion were: Sheena Wellington, Heather Heywood, Bob Blair and Adam McNaughtan. In this context in Scottish folk music circles they could be introduced simply as Sheena, Heather, Bob and Adam - and most people would know who you were talking about.

This recording is part of The Living Tradition Archive and is presented here for your enjoyment and as part of the process of documenting and indexing this archive. Feedback is welcome.
