Mike Whellans - Interviewed 2018

This sound file, is an interview which Pete Heywood recorded with Mike, around the time of the 50th Anniversary of the Irvine Marymass Folk Festival.  

It gives an insight into Mike's family background and his early musical influences. These help explain how he instantly bonded when he and Aly Bain met, going on to form a strong musical partnership and later the founding of the Boys of the Lough. The interview finishes with some memories of his time at Marymass Folk Festival and the creation of The Windscreen Vipers. Enjoy!
