I was interested to see news of a major new project (with what I would call ‘proper research funding’) on the theme of access, participation and diversity in English folk music. As this came around the same time as the English Folk Dance and Song Society was consulting about a change of name, I got the sense of a head of steam building up about a group of related issues.
